Big News Vegan Friends!

Unfortunately, Sugar Plum will no longer be able to provide delicious food for our cart I know, I know, It’s not exactly good news . . . But it may turn out to be for one or two of you:)

The truth is, this comes at an appropriate time, as I (Stuart) have a number of new ventures beginning and at last feel ready to pass Happy Go Lucky on to new ownership. Therefore, if you have a penchant for great food, a will to express your creativity, and a desire to own your own business, this may be fantastic opportunity. It has been an adventure for sure, and we have had a lot of fun building our little vegan island. But alas, this will be our last week of operations.

Little Food Cart – Big Changes

Hey food cart friends!

Despite the success of the Buddha Bowl and Sugars Plums daily soup offerings, we’ve decided to take December off downtown. We will be focusing our efforts on late night food carting instead! Every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday, weather permitting, we will be setting up in front of the Townhouse on 21st street between O and P. Sorry for inconvenience, but this is a necessary transition for us at this time. Please check back with us in January about our downtown offerings. Happy holidays!

Buddha Bowl!

This is our newest addition to the cart! An exotic, seasonal array of mixed vegetables, grilled and marinated sliced tofu and fresh brown rice.  All topped with a scrumptious, house made Teriyaki-Tamari sauce. $8

Tuna Melt!

Sugar plum is back at it again!

This bad boy is made with jackfruit, walnuts, red onion, organic pickle relish, Veganaise, and special herbs and spices. Top that with melted Daiya cheese, grill it and presto, a unbelievable sandwich you have to taste to believe! It served with a small chard and grilled beat side salad. Yet another vegan innovation from Sugar Plum!

Wiggle Like Ray!

For any of you hungry, jobless mid-towners out there, we have a new program at Happy Go Lucky! Hold our little sign on 9th and J for an hour and we’ll feed you lunch! This is our friend Ray. He’s taken us up on the offer several times and seems quite taken with the idea. He’s tried most of our food but I think the Meatball Sub is his favorite.

It’s first come first serve though, so get there early!

Our New Bahn Mi Sandwich Has Arrived!

It’s here folks…the much anticipated Vietnamese Bahn Mi Sandwich has hit the streets!  We put marinated portabella, crispy vegan bacon, pickled diakon and shredded carrots on a fresh baked French loaf with Sriracha Mayo.  Designed by Sugar Plum Began, this new, cold sandwich is fit for summer and packed with flavor!  On sale $1 off through Friday the 23rd!

Meet Patrick!

For those of you who have not yet met him, this is Patrick! As Stephanie will be doing some traveling in the up coming months, we have welcomed Patrick on as our new Happy Go Lucky Right-Hand-Man. As I’m sure you will agree as you get to know him, Patrick is a fantastic fellow and a perfect fit for the team! He and I (Stuart) will spend a lot of time at the cart together, but he will also be taking care of things on his own. There’s a lot to learn, but he’s quick study and genuinely excited about serving up healthy creative food. Welcome Patrick, it’s our privilege to have you on board!

Come Get Your ‘Frequenter’s’ and ‘Pre-Purchase’ Cards!

Hey Everyone!

So…with spring comes spring cleaning so there will be some new things coming to our little cart out there (starting with our new umbrella)!  One of the first things we’re rolling out is our new Frequenter’s cards, just a little gift to tell you ‘Thanks’.  The next time you come by for lunch grab one and every time you get a bowl we’ll punch out a little circle.  When you buy ten bowls you get one free!

We also now have a Pre-Purchase card.  It’s the closest thing we can get to taking credit cards right now (I know I told some of you we’d be carrying them soon – but alas, the deal was too good to be true and so we’ll have to wait).  With these cards you can pre-purchase up to ten bowls on one of those days you actually have cash on you – so you don’t have to worry about it later.  It’s kind of like a lunch card

Our New Side Business Hits the Little Screen on Fox 40 News!

We started a new, quarky side business not too long ago that caught the eye of Bethany Crouch of Fox news.  ‘Get Flamingoed’ is a service where you can rent a flock of pink, plastic lawn flamingos to be stealthfully placed in the front lawn of your friends and family with a sign reading, “You’ve Been Flamingoed!”  Great for B-days, Anniverseries, Congrats and any other celebration, it is SO much fun and a great way to put a smile on anyone’s face!  Early Monday morning we crept out and put 100 pink plastic flamingos on the KCRA 3′s lawn.  We had lots of fun, thanks Bethany for thinking of us!  Here’s the link to the video:
